Things to be Thankful for in Spartanburg

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and Spartanburg has a lot to be thankful for. We’re here to remind you of what some of those many things are and why you should really “love where you live”.

Local

Spartanburg has a nostalgic downtown feel with an array of local shops, musicians, and eateries. Whether it be picking out new gear to explore the outdoors from the Local Hiker, tuning in to a local music group at Fr8yard, or even grabbing a bite from Mezcal, there’s no shortage of options here.

Growth

Spartanburg is constantly growing with new businesses both small and large opening all the time! Check out new businesses like Underpin Lanes ‘N Lounge (a boutique bowling alley and bar), Small Cakes (a downtown cupcakery and creamery), Cycle Bar (an indoor cycling fitness center), Spartanburg Salt Cave – CryoSkin Cool Sculpting & Wellness Spa, and many more.

Opportunity

One thing that all college students need after graduation is a job. Spartanburg is currently home to several global businesses that provide internship and career opportunities for students. Businesses such as Denny’s, Michelin, Milliken, and more are always looking for young local talent to join their companies and start their careers. Stay up to date on internship and career opportunities by checking out Handshake, a platform dedicated to helping students find jobs.

Community

Lastly, Spartanburg has many opportunities throughout the year to get involved with community service. Coming up in January is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Join the United Way with a rally and lunch in the afternoon, service acts, and finally a Unity Celebration in the evening on January 20, 2020. This event is all about servicing the community and honoring Dr. King’s memory across Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties. Choose to make MLK Day 2020 a day on, rather than a day off.
